Severn Trent Water is starting work next week on a £1.1 million scheme to help prevent sewer flooding in Attenborough, Nottingham.
Severn Trent’s programme manager, Ian Merrill explained why the work is required:
“During periods of heavy rainfall our sewage pumping station on Attenborough Lane has struggled to cope and this has at times caused water to back up along the road to Crofton Road resulting in flooding in the local area."
The work to help prevent this from happening in the future involves increasing the size of the sewers and the capacity of the sewage pumping station. The water company will also carry out repairs on sections of the existing sewers.
Severn Trent's contract partners NMCNomenca will be using largely ‘trenchless’ methods to repair the existing sewers, which will reduce the impact and duration of the work.
